These Sony Xperia XA3 images show how ugly tall screens can look

Sony is getting ready to unveil new phones, as evident by numerous leaks, including these hands-on images of the Xperia XA3 that Sumahoinfo found.

Keep in mind press renders of the Xperia XA3 also popped up this week, showing a tall, slim phone with a 21:9 aspect ratio screen. These new images appear to align with those renders and confirm other information we had heard before. For instance, we can see there is a noticeable bezel at the top with nothing but a speaker grille and selfie sensor, while the bottom bezel is barely visible.

We can also see what looks like Android 9.0 running on the Xperia XA3. There’s also a rear dual-camera setup and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner showing. But need to address the most distressing “feature” in these photos: the bottom quarter of the phone’s screen is solid black, which makes us think there aren’t many apps available that can scale or fit such a tall, odd screen.

That’ll be an annoying issue if it persists.

Lastly, Sumahoinfo claimed in another report that the Xperia XA3 might feature a Snapdragon 636 SoC, which conflicts with previous reporting.

But we should get more concrete details at MWC 2019, where the phone is expected to be announced by Sony.
